Pricing for medical treatments

Dutch hospitals operate within a private but regulated health care system. The Dutch health care system is well known and acknowledged for its effective and affordable outcomes.

Prices for international patients are proportional to the pricing for Dutch and EU-residents.

The prices for medical treatments are fixed and by law yearly published by healthcare providers.
Dutch healthcare providers are not allowed to charge deviant commercial prices to international patients.

Once you have submitted your request a medical team at Erasmus MC will review your case. When the medical team has accepted your case you will receive a financial proposal. This financial proposal is based on expected costs, when the treatment plan deviates you will receive additional invoices.

Within the total cost are the following services included:

  • medical assessment of request
  • direct access to Dutch healthcare providers
  • planning of medical treatment
  • single point of contact with care coordinators
  • answering questions regarding your treatment
  • provide support within the payment process

Once the treatment is completed, the specified invoice will be sent to you.

For declaration with insurances you will need the specified invoice. Foreign insurance companies usually do not accept advance invoices for declaration. Due to the Dutch registrations health system it could take a while before we are able to provide you with a specified invoice.
