Cardiothoracic Surgery

Surgeries on the chest area are performed by cardiothoracic surgeons at the Erasmus MC’s renowned Thorax Center. The departments of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Cardiology and Pulmonary Diseases at the Erasmus MC together constitute the Thorax Center, which was established in 1971.

Cardiothoracic Surgery at Erasmus MC

Every year, the Thorax Center admits around 6500 adult patients and serves more than 38 000 adults in the outpatient clinic. We provide integrated care for patients with diseases of the heart, lungs, great vessels, mediastinum and trachea, in adults as well as children. In order to ensure that our patients receive the most comprehensive care, we offer an optimally personalized treatment plan for each patient. This plan is devised during our daily Heart Team meetings or our multidisciplinary medical team. We decide upon the most favorable treatment strategy through multidisciplinary consensus.

Please feel free to contact us for any disease or disorder related to cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery or pulmonology.
