Prepare for hospital admission

Everything you need to know about your admission and stay in the hospital, you can find at the website of the Erasmus Medical Center.

Erasmus MC has various facilities at your service.



It might be useful to ask for an interpreter. Please notify your Care Coordinator in advance. On any other given time you can request an interpreter via the doctor or nurse.


It is nice to have visitors. However keep in mind that many visitors at once can be inconvenient for you or other patients. Please limit the number of visitors to no more than two at once. Feel free to leave your patientroom if you are able and allowed to do so. Notify the nursing staff if you decide to leave the ward. You can make use of the family room, the lounge or the restaurant.

Phones & internet

The use of mobile phones is permitted to patients and visitors. Except in those areas where mobile phones may cause interference or present a hazard. These locations are indicated by stickers or signs.

The Erasmus MC offers free WIFI (“Hotspot”) access for patients and visitors.


Wheelchairs are available at the main entrance and the entrance of the outpatient clinic. You can use the wheelchair by inserting a € 2 coin in the coin-operated lock. Your coin will be returned after use.


Smoking is prohibited inside Erasmus MC.

Non cash services

Pease note that all shops and restaurants within the Erasmus MC do not take cash payments, but bankcards only.

Hospital facilities

SpiritualityThe meditation center is located near the main entrance (please follow the signs). An Islamic Prayer Room with ablution facilities is also available. Opening hours: daily from 7:00am to 8:30pm.

During your medical treatment at Erasmus MC, you can appeal to a spiritual care workers for a confidential conversation. They are at everyone’s disposal, regardless of their religious or personal believes. You may contact the Spiritual Care office yourself, but you can also ask a nurse or an assistant on the ward to make an appointment for you.


The restaurant (Food & Beverages) is located in the central hall of the main Entrance. The restaurant offers a wide range of freshly prepared sandwiches and meals, coffee and soft drinks. Opening hours: Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 8:00pm, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 8:00pm.

For a cup of coffee or a specialty beverage, a freshly baked roll or a smoothie you may visit Starbucks.  Opening hours: Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, Saturday and Sunday from 12:00am to 5:00pm.

Food & gifts

The Food & Shop gift shop is situated in he central hall. Many items are available, including flowers, something to read, greeting cards and various gifts. You can also buy sandwiches, candy and soft drinks in the shop. Opening hours: Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 8:00pm, Saturday and Sunday from 2:00 pm to 08:00 pm.


A ladies’ and men’s hairdresser is located in the Central Hall. Opening hours: Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:30pm. Telephone +31 (0)10 703 38 55


You will find an ING-bank ATM/cash dispenser in the Central Hall.


Restaurants & shops nearby

Restaurant DOK 10

Opening hours: daily from 7:00am to 09:00pm. Hot meals are available on weekends and bank holidays from 11:00am to 02:00pm and from 05:00pm to 07:00pm. There is a breakfast buffet daily from 07:30am to 10:00am.

Restaurant KADE 80

Opening hours: Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 07:00pm. Hot meals are available from 11:00am to 02:00pm and from 05:00pm to 07:00 pm. Nearby KADE 80 is a fresh food machine (available 24 hours) with ready made meals and snacks. A microwave is avaible if you wish the food to be heated.

Shop AH “to go”

Opening hours: Monday through Friday from 07:00am to 07:00pm, on Saturday from 09:30am to 05:00pm.


ETOS: opening hours Monday through Friday from 09:00am to 06:00pm, on Saturday from 12:00am to05:00pm.

AKO: opening hours from Monday through Friday from 08:00am to 07:00pm, on Saturday from 09:30am to 05:00pm.
